* Fees for transcripts as of May 8
At their most recent meeting, the Board of Governors approved fees to be charged for transcript orders and these will be effective May 8, 2010.
A transcript is a valuable document reflecting your academic record while at SFU. Here are some things you should know:
1. We are responsible for producing transcripts in a way that meets national and international standards and this incurs a significant cost for us.
2. When the new student record system was implemented there was no way to charge a fee for service, so it was eliminated until now. Given that many students order transcripts and never pick them up, our present practice wastes time and resources and is therefore not sustainable.
3. We have attempted to make the fee schedule fair and affordable while covering costs and ensuring that the present service can be improved to meet student and alumni needs (including rush service and expedited delivery options).
4. Charging for transcripts is a common practice with universities for these very reasons.
