Canadian whiz kids set for International science fair Canadian teens are getting top marks for pushing the boundaries of technology, engineering and health, through science in an effort to change the world.
Whiz kid Marcus Deans, 14, has come up with a novel way to filter water using sugar, sand and crustecean shells, he is taking his invention to Pheonix to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering (ISEF) starting May 8.
Daniel Mogilny, 17 creates a natural language processing algorithm which predicts people's psychological traits based on their Twitter posts.
Last year two brilliant Vancouver teens won big at ISEF -- Raymond Wang received a $ 75,000 US prize, while Nicole Ticea, won $ 50,000 US from the Intel Foundation. Overall, team Canada brought home 36 ISEF awards.
