neighbour relation based on trust?

As Vancouver city metamorphoses into a metropolitan in the past 20 years, a lot more crimes were committed. Unlike 30 years ago when I first landed here, bank robbery was big news then. A caucasian widow lives next to me, with an East Indian family lived on the other side.They had never invited me or my family for a gathering, let alond dinner. The East Indian family sold the house to a Chinese family from Mainland, we spoke a little when we met at the doors but only to find out they grew marijuana inside the house a few months later.They lady of the house returned to visit China with her children when police and fire dept was called in to open up the house. How much can you trust the neighbours, especially those that came from a rich background, you never knew how they earned their money? Another neighbour at the back of my house is from the Philippines, he\'s the one who is truly friendly and invited me to his church on 2 occasions to commemorate some religious events.An invitation to a pulic event is more suitable than private, you can observe your neighbours more when they interact with others, then you fell more at ease to communicate with them. It is the change of the social fabric that made the residents wary of their neighbours.
