**1st TIp** - Make sure all screws are tight on your unit prior to the install and USE SILVER tape, NOT DUCT tape, to cover the black exhaust plates installed on the top and including the back if choosing top intstall. !mportant! Spare no tape!
*2nd Tip* - The first vent attachment is better put on the unit before the install using silver tape. Ours had to come down again ..Ugg.. because we installed the boot from inside the cupboard and without taking out a sizable chunk of the cupboard bottom you can't really get a solid seal. Also, it was blowing air under the cabinet in our faces and at that time we discovered the screws weren't in tight from the factory for the provided exhaust (Hence Tip 1)
*3rd Tip*- I recommend you use bolts, washers 2 per bolt and nuts/wingnuts - first, use long deck screws to install it temporarily that will penetrate the whole bottom through to the top, then remove screws one at a time and slowly drill with a slightly larger bit from up top so the bolt install goes easily. At the end of the bolt install add two of the supplied screws at the front where there are two more holes in front of the motors ( you have to look for them) this will tighten it up to the front of your cabinet bottom.
Ours sounds like a Boeing 747 on startup with the winding high pitch likely because we really should have a 6" solid pipe vent or even a gradual reducer 6"-4" ( don't use a step reducer ) which we would have used if we had the height, but unfortunately the ceiling bulkhead is in the way so that wasn't an option. Flex pipes will also give you more noise, avoid this type if you can.
*4th Tip*- If you are choosing to vent with the 10x3"1/4 x 4" boot top vent, remove the damper/flap from the unit's vent as it cannot open fully within the boot and will restrict airflow. If you end up with a backdraft problem because of the removal ( it's like leaving a window open ) you will need to install a backdraft stopper further up in the circular pipe leading to the outdoors. You can get them here at Amazon. That's what we did.
*5th Tip* Have a rangehood installation party, invite many friends, you don't want to do this alone!
Honestly, to the best of my understanding, the amount of CFM's you get depends on your vent install. You will have less if you are required to use a 4" pipe as we were. The height of the inside of cupboard and ensuing bulkhead and then the existing roof vent placement made it too difficult to change. ( condo)) ( see attached photo)
Having said that this unit works very well even using the 4" size pipe for very efficiently removing steam from boiling water using the front burners even on low. Not sure of the CFM's it produces but It will hold up a wet paper towel and dry it quickly haha! I didn't have any plastic containers to try. So for me, it's good enough. It looks good, the lights are bright as well and for the better part, the design seems well thought out. The baffles are held very securely with springs, I like that. There is truly a difference between all six speeds as well. So far I like it, I'm not so scared it might fall down anymore. So again, the installation wasn't fun and it's been ongoing due to unforeseen factors I have mentioned but the unit works very well so far, so it's been worth it.
My only negative is the clock. I don't know why it even has to have one. I don't need 3 clocks in a cluster. Range, Range hood above, plus the microwave to the upper right. ( see photo) I probably need 3 people to set the clocks. ^^ If it weren't for the way we had to install it I would have bought the Arlington (no clock)
Also, if you need anything, customer service is very good to work with and they are very helpful. You can reach them through the seller profile page with any questions.
Soooo...... here's to hopefully many years with my Boeing 747 ( But seriously? I actually like loud fans )and hopefully I won't bang my head on it too often... Hey, I'm short. My forehead looks at it.
Thank you Vesta

I had read the reviews and was perplexed by the fact that although most of them were very good there were some very bad ones in there. I think I understand why now; I am writing this review to help people decide if this item is for them as well as navigate through what has proven to be a relatively tricky installation even if I am typically very comfortable with this kind of project.
This range hood is made with quality parts. It has a very sturdy feel to it. This makes it quite heavy however. The box contained several venting adapters, a template and a user manual that is quite vague wrt installation.
1. The template provided was pretty much unusable since it is made of cardboard and was wrinkled. I checked it against the range hood before using it and there was a misalignment of more than 1/16in even when trying to stretch it out. I decided to mark the slots with the range hood in place.
2. Don't try to install this by yourself without cabinet jacks or something adjustable to hold it in place. If you don't have anything like this, you will need one or even better, two helpers. I used an adjustable piano bench and some plywood/shims.
3. I fitted the rear vent adapter and blocked the top vent with the provided cap and gasket. I then noticed that this cap/gasket protruded by about 1/4 in. above the range hood fixing holes. This meant that it wouldn't sit flush under my cabinet. I decided to replace the supplied top cap/gasket with several strips of foil tape.
4. After removing the underplate to see the mounting holes, I put the range hood in place and marked each of the keyhole slots. The rear holes are difficult to access and I had to tape my sharpie to the end of a stick to reach the hole. I then removed the range hood.
5. I lightly drilled about 1/8 in. from the end of each slot and put the 4 screws in leaving a gap of about 1/8 in. between the screwhead and the bottom of the cabinet. Note that this gap would be insufficient if you havent replace the top cap/gasket assembly with foil tape.
6. I slid the range hood back in place but this time pulling the electrical wires through the back hole after installing the rubber ring provided to protect the wire. As pointed out in other reviews, the ring was easily displaced when pulling the wire through. The hole is unnecessarily small but after fiddling with it a bit, I was able to push the rubber ring on the wire back in its place. After this was done, the range hood was being held by the screws in the slotted holes. I asked my wife to push on the range hood from the front, while I torqued the 4 screws. The front ones are easy but you will need a screwdriver extension for the back screws. I also used the two extra screws through additional mounting holes in the center that are not highlighted in the manual. With an item this heavy, it felt better to have these extra screws.
7. I turned the breaker off, connected the wires, flipped the breaker back on, and installed the underplate.
8. Moment of truth, we turned it on and ... I WAS DISAPPOINTED... LOW SUCTION POWER AND NOISY !
9. After some investigation through the house outdoor vent which is just on the other side of the wall, I noticed that the back vent adapter flap on the range hood was not being pushed open. There didn't seem to be any obstruction but for some reason the flap was stuck closed. I was able to pry it out (my outdoor vent also has a flap so I had no need for a second one) and the difference was amazing. The air flow is now excellent. If you don't need this flap, I strongly recommend you take it out before installing the range hood. This also improved the noise situation. This problem may have happened to others and could explain some of the negative reviews about the product.
After this somewhat awkward installation here are my comments:
1. We think it looks quite good. Especially at that price.
2. Suction is impressive. Look at the second picture showing two plastic dishes and one cover being held up by the range hood.
3. There are 6 speeds but the difference between the lowest setting and the highest could ideally be more significant. At the lowest speed it's already quite audible but it also has fairly high suction. Past speed 3-4, it becomes more noisy with only a small increment in suction.
4. The led lights are selectable between bright and...brighter. Those are not 2700K leds and produce a whiter light. Not a problem for me but you should be aware.

As for the install: First, if this is a new install, then super easy. But as others have said, it is heavy. I did my Awoco by myself, no problem. This one, I had my wife and 15 year old daughter help me with it. It was difficult because I had modified my above stove cabinet from a builder grade 'Crapola' Broan recirculating trash, to the up and out of the roof Awoco Range Hood. Both the Awoco and this one have 6" vents, but let me tell you, 6" is 'debatable'. :)
The 6" vent top in the Awoco was over an inch closer to the wall then this one is. So now lets talk about the templet that they provide from Vesta: NO. I tried it, I really tried it, but it was a no go. It really did nothing but complicate the install. Its best to just have someone hold it up, put a two screws into it and then finish it. Speaking of screws. No way would I use the ones provided in the kit. I used some socket flange heads I had with washers and they worked great.
As for the electrical cord, if you are going to hard wire or not, it's easier to wire it after it is mounted. Just make sure you have the hold drilled properly. I ordered a short 3 prong extension from Amazon for about $5 and passed it thru the top, into the main cavity and wired it then. I also wrapped the wiring nuts with electrical tape and neatly tucked it away.
The lights work great, but why they used halogen instead of led, I will never figure out. But that is the great thing about the unit (and one of my requirements). You can easily swap the light bulbs for what ever you want.
The electronics are fantastic, and the touch screen works very well. I don't think the LED's are to bright or to dim. Thus perfect. Long term? Time will tell.
The 6 levels are fantastic, and honestly, don't see us using over 3, but nice to have that option. Though there is a difference between level 5 and 6, it isn't very much. Is this actually 860 CFM? IDK and don't care. It works for us.
Can I recommend this? Heck yes I can, especially at the sale price of $370 ($70 coupon). If you shop around for range hoods, you will start to realize that many are exactly the same, but with different names and prices. This holds true between this and the Hauslane | Chef Series 30" PS18 unit. But it is far more expensive.
Time will tell and I will update this as time progresses. I 100% so far recommend this Range Hood!
Starting with the Cons (which do not outweigh the Pros):
The unit arrived damaged... see attached photo. It was dented in the corner top left, but this was not a deal breaker since that corner would not show. The box was NOT crushed, this was sent damaged in the box. We continued with the install after making sure the dent would not be visible at all.
Installation was difficult for several reasons. First, the hood is heavy, and designed to be held only by the cabinet above. We put in additional screws into the wall studs also, but there are no holes/directions for that. For safety sake, you should probably also drill it into the wall behind the unit. The included screws seem too small and weak for the weight. Plan to buy stronger screws.
The vent attachment was PERFECT! That it came with 3 different venting options, back rectangle, round top, rectangular top, was a bit overkill. I think it would be easier to sell the specific vent required, and write a better install manual. The 2 spare vents look expensive, and I feel guilty tossing them...
The suction does not feel as powerful as a 860 CFM. I have no way of measuring it, but I'm thinking that the reason it's 860 cfm is because there are TWO fans that are 430 each? That would make sense. I have not yet cooked anything hugely smoky. If it cannot eliminate heavy smoke, then I will edit my review. It appears to have good suction, but not as much as I was expecting. I am no air flow expert, so I could be completely wrong here and the 860 cfm is accurate.
Now for the Pros:
It is Beautiful. Very upscale looking. The 2 main things I loved about it are the baffles - buying these separately for a hood is expensive, and the oil drip pan. Now I'm not sure how well the drip pan works yet, but I love the idea! And I have not seen a reasonably priced range hood with these 2 features, so that made this a must buy.
It has a true 6 speed fan, and the fan levels are noticeable. It has 3 levels of lighting, another great thing. Noise level is no worse than far lower suction hoods ('standard' hoods). We can definitely live with it. It's a fan, blowing into a metal box, at high speed. There's no way it could be nearly silent, I'd say this is about as quiet as 2 fans like this can possibly be.
Finally, the price is fantastic. It looks and works like a higher priced unit. At this price, a lot of annoyances can easily be forgiven. Do I recommend it? Yes I do. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. That's why despite my issues and reservations, I'm still giving it 4 stars. We are very glad we bought it, see pix of our install, it really is gorgeous. Hope this helps!

The replacement unit works great and I'm super happy with it. I went from a literal no-name, non-ducted hood to this and the difference is quite noticeable. The house and my clothes don't smell like whatever I'm cooking, searing things in a hot pan doesn't set off the smoke alarms, and the hood looks great and feels very sturdy.
There is a feature that lets you press the power button for 3 seconds while the fan is running to set a delayed power off, which I've found really useful. When I finish cooking, I set the 3:00 minute delay and can walk away, knowing it will continue clearing out residual smoke and turn off automatically. Very cool!
If I'd received a functioning unit the first time, I would have given 5 stars. I'm giving 3 stars because at the end of the day, if something in this breaks or goes wrong, my experience is that there is no support to fix it and replacing it is the only option.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
NOTE: I hope to return and update this rating when we can resolve why the hood isn't working!
Pros:
- Looks clean and sleek, matches stainless steel decor
- Installation is fairly straightforward with some planning
Cons:
- Unit received simply beeps continuously when supplied with power, not operational
- If you vent from the rear and use the blanking plate on the top, it's not possible to install flush (the blanking plate itself will create a 1/16" gap between the mounting surface and the top of the unit)
- The cardboard template is an awesome idea, but doesn't work with rear vent setup
- It's heavy/awkward to get into place to install, even with two people
I've reached out to Vesta via email about the problem with the unit and so again, I'm hopeful to come back when we fix the vent and I can see it in action.
I can confirm some of the other reviews noting the difficulty in installation. I'm a fairly confident/competent DIY'er and was able to plan it out, but actually getting the unit secured into place took some blood and sweat. (The tears came when I wired it up, restored power, and only got beeping...) That said, it IS straightforward--you simply need to put it into position and screw it into place.
The rear screw locations are a little hard to navigate, but not impossible by any means. I was able to lean backwards over my stove, set the screw on top of my standard Phillips screwdriver, and make contact with the mounting surface. Using self-tapping screws, I was able to manually secure the rear screws in this manner. If I can do it, anyone can!
Ordered this through Amazon . Came quickly as usual. Took a few days to educate myself from videos on YouTube since I’ve never installed one before. Was a direct fit! Got lucky I guess . It is a little heavy so it took two people to lock in place . It comes with a cardboard template to mark the mounting screws , wires and exhaust hole . I was fortunate those where what I had already. I just lifted in place while someone else tighten the four screws . The wires went into an electrical box . Blk to blk wht to wht and grn to grn or copper wire. Then the exhaust pipe to the top to the outside. Turned on breaker and it worked . Took about an hour total with clean up .
The fan on my old one was only 300 cfm so this one being 700 cfm blew it away . No smoke now ! There’s 6 settings to choose from . And two light settings. We cleaned the filters in the dishwasher without any problems so far . Filters are easy to remove an install without any tools . They just pop out or in .
Overall satisfactory I gave it five stars ! It’s a good price for what you get . High speed is a little noisy but I’m fine with that cause it works well .
