義工招募計劃

耆英是社會寶貴的財產，今日社會的豐裕富足，緣於他們昔日的辛勤付出。如您有興趣

與他們溝通接觸，為有需要的出點綿力，這個耆英外展服務計劃將會是一個好機會！

名稱：Better at Home

目的：透過人與人之間的關懷及支持，讓耆英能在家有效獨立地生活外，同

時亦能與外界保持接觸，避免出現社會孤立的情況

服務對象：六十五歲或以上、居於Hasting-Sunrise

服務內容：

 交通安排：如陪同往返診所醫院、社區中心等

 友善探訪：與受訓義工傾訴心事，分享生活點滴

 簡單家務：如打掃、洗衣服、洗碗等

 雜貨購物：如協助購買日常用品、簡單雜貨等

成為義工所需條件：

年齡：任何十六歲或以上人士

所需資格：

 語言：英語(能操其他流利語言更好)

 個性：親切、熱情、非批判性，願意與耆英建立和諧合作關係

 訓練：擁有緊急熱線訓練或社區輔導訓練更好

 經驗：擁有與耆英一起工作經驗更好

 文件：無犯罪記錄証明、保密協議書

(如是義務司機，需出示有效駕駛執照、車牌登記及保險、駕車經驗摘要)

義務工作富教育意義和趣味性，中僑互助會亦非常重視義工服務，故我們會舉辦

義工嘉許典禮及頒發義工嘉許狀以作鳴謝。

現誠邀有興趣成為服務義工者查詢有關資料，以身體力行，為社區多出分力。

Better at Home Program is designed to help seniors remain independent at home with a healthy

lifestyle and stay connected with their community. As one of the nonprofits to launch Better at Home

in BC, SUCCESS provides non-medical services to seniors living in Hasting-Sunrise area.

We recognizes that seniors are an important and growing part of communities, if you like visiting or

working with seniors, we have volunteer opportunities for you!

Under this program, you can support seniors to age in place with dignity, stay socially connected and

prevents social isolation by volunteering one of the following services:

 Friendly Visits: provide accompaniment to seniors, sharing interests & experiences

 Transportation: drive seniors to and from their home to various appointments

 Grocery Shopping: help seniors to do grocery shopping on a regular basis

 Light Housekeeping: provide non-medical home support (ie. cleaning, laundry, drying, etc)

Time Commitment: flexible and short term

Volunteer Age & Gender: Any Adult (16+)

Required Skills and Knowledge:

 Language: English (Fluency in languages other than English would be an asset)

 Personality: Caring, Compassionate, non-judgmental, and willing to establish a rapport

 with seniors

 Training: Training in crisis lines or community counseling would be an asset

 Experience: working with seniors would be an asset

 Documents: Criminal Record Check and Signed Confidentiality Agreement

 If you are going to be a volunteer driver, there is additional information required:

 Valid Class 5 driver's licence, Vehicle registration and insurance, and Driver's Abstract

Volunteering is Rewarding, Educational and Fun. Our volunteers are very important to us. We aim to:

 Match your volunteer tasks with what you would like to do

 Acknowledge your hard work with events and written recognition

Program volunteers are provided with orientation and training supervised by program staff.
